Michael Waters completed his Bachelor of Arts (Griffith University) in 1996, followed by his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) (Queensland University of Technology) in 2001.

He commenced practising law with a large national firm in Brisbane in the same year. That role enabled him to develop a knowledge base in corporate and commercial matters. He acted on behalf of many publicly listed companies including Virgin, Tabcorp, Fosters, Brewing Group, Toyota Finance Australia, the Commonwealth Government and several national construction companies.

He has also recently assisted many local companies in adapting their businesses to take advantage of the opportunities in the new employment laws.

Michael was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and as a solicitor of the High Court of Australia in 2002. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology.

Michael is a Board Member on the Alloway Country Club and provides free legal services to this club as well as to the East Bundaberg Bowls Club and Volunteer Marine Rescue. He enjoys offshore fishing, four wheel driving and riding his motorbike.
