Wendy Brillante is a true local as she was born and raised in Childers, and was School Captain of Isis District State High School in 1993. She is married to a local small crops and cane farmer.
Wendy completed her Bachelor of Arts at The University of Queensland in 1997 and completed her Bachelor of Laws together with her Articles of Clerkship with another Bundaberg law firm in 2001. She was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2002.
Wendy commenced practice in Brisbane as an “in-house” Solicitor in the Internal Defence Unit of a major Australian insurance company in 2002. That role enabled Wendy to develop excellent negotiation skills to bring about the most cost effective and proactive resolution of claims. She is highly skilled in the management of litigation and litigation issues and alternative dispute resolution techniques through her extensive involvement in mediations and settlement conferences.
Before returning to Bundaberg, Wendy worked in Brisbane for one of the largest specialist insurance and commercial law firms in Australia. That role enabled her to further develop her knowledge base in a diverse range of general insurance and public liability matters. She acted on behalf of many large construction companies, federal, state and local government departments and many high profile Australian and international insurers and underwriters.
