Peter Marles

Consultant - Bundaberg

Peter Marles has been a partner with MRH since 1999 and has been a solicitor since 1983. Prior to joining MRH, he was a partner with another Bundaberg law firm for 15 years. His career has also included stints in Brisbane and Gladstone.

Peter has a reputation for a no-nonsense approach and for getting the job done with a minimum of fuss.

He completed his Bachelor of Laws at Queensland University of Technology in 1982 and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1983. Peter is also a Solicitor of the High Court of Australia and a Member of the Queensland Environmental Law Association Inc.

The fourth generation of his family to be in business in Bundaberg, Peter acts for a number of the region's most active property developers, for residential, retail, commercial and retirement village developments.

He also has extensive experience in commercial leasing and represents several of the region's largest commercial landlords, including being responsible for all leasing matters for two regional shopping centres.

Rural clients also form an integral part of Peter’s practice with advice provided on a wide range of matters including property acquisitions and sales, resumptions and succession planning.

Since 1985, when he started working with Gladstone Council, Peter has acted for a number of local councils handling a range of local government related matters including Planning & Environment Court appeals and applications as well as prosecutions and declarations.

He has been a Referee on the Building and Development Dispute Resolution Committee and has heard matters involving complex issues relating to water and sewerage, and building.

Peter is also member of the Queensland Law Society Planning and Environmental Law committee. This committee is responsible for reviewing and suggesting amendments to legislation.

Outside the law, Peter has a grazing property near Gin Gin and a great interest in rural matters. He is Patron of the Bundaberg Show Society and previously served as President and Vice-President of the YMCA Bundaberg and Vice-President of both the Bundaberg Show Society and a local Pony Club.
